The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that it has uploaded 97.5 percent of results from the 2025 Anambra State governorship election to its official Result Viewing Portal (IReV).
According to checks conducted by Okay News on Saturday evening, data on the INEC website as of 7:39 p.m. showed that results from 5,577 out of the 5,718 polling units across the state had been successfully uploaded.
The election, which featured 18 candidates — including 16 men and two women — was described by observers as one of the most transparent polls in recent years. Among the leading contenders were the incumbent governor, Professor Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA); Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC); and George Nnadubem Moghalu of the Labour Party (LP).
Other candidates included Jude Ezenwafor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Paul Chukwuka Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP).
INEC’s Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Dayo Oketola, stated that the exercise had been widely commended both locally and internationally for its improved logistics, strong coordination, and transparency.
“With reports of seamless operations, strong security coordination, and near-total Permanent Voter Card collection, domestic and international observers have described the Anambra governorship election as a milestone in Nigeria’s democratic journey and a clear testament to the renewed confidence in INEC’s leadership and electoral integrity,” he said.
However, Okay News reports that despite the commendations, there were scattered allegations of vote-buying in some polling units as voters trooped out to elect a new governor.
As the commission moves toward full collation, stakeholders and election observers have urged INEC to sustain its digital reforms and transparency initiatives ahead of future elections.
