ABUJA, Nigeria – Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission has opened its 2026 recruitment portal for qualified Nigerians seeking entry-level positions on Grade Levels 07, 08, 09, 10 and 12.
Okay News reports that applications opened on Monday, July 20, 2026, and will close on Monday, July 27, 2026. Candidates should complete and submit their applications through the official INEC recruitment portal before it closes.
The recruitment covers professional, administrative and executive officer positions linked to electoral administration, voter registration, data management and election logistics. The application is free, and INEC says only shortlisted candidates will proceed to the next stage.
INEC Recruitment 2026 Vacancies
INEC has grouped the vacancies into three broad cadres:
- Professional Cadre, Grade Levels 09, 10 and 12: positions include Accountant, Clinical Officer, Lawyer, ICT Officer, Engineer and Quantity Surveyor.
- Administrative Officer II, Registration Area Officer, Grade Level 08: for applicants with a bachelor’s degree, Higher National Diploma or an equivalent qualification in the Social Sciences, Humanities or Sciences.
- Executive Officer, Registration Officer, Grade Level 07: for applicants with a National Certificate in Education or an equivalent qualification from a government-recognised institution.
Who Can Apply for INEC Recruitment?
Applicants must meet the qualification attached to their selected vacancy. Professional roles may also require recognised certifications from bodies such as the Nigerian Bar Association, Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, Nigerian Society of Engineers, Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Association of National Accountants of Nigeria or Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria.
Applicants for professional positions should also check whether the selected vacancy requires post-qualification experience and an applicable National Youth Service Corps discharge or exemption certificate.
INEC’s general conditions require applicants to:
- Be no older than 35 years at the time of application.
- Present a valid certificate of state of origin signed by the chairman or secretary of their local government.
- Be physically and mentally fit and certified by a government medical officer.
- Be of good character and have no criminal conviction.
- Be willing to serve in any part of Nigeria.
- Demonstrate integrity, discipline and commitment to public service.

Important Application Rules
INEC says each applicant may maintain only one account. Multiple applications can lead to permanent disqualification, while false information or forged documents may result in disqualification and possible prosecution.
Candidates may edit their information before submission. Once an application has been submitted and the portal closes, further changes will not be permitted. Applications sent by email, delivered physically or submitted through recruitment agents will not be accepted.
No application, registration or processing fee is required. Anyone demanding money or promising employment in exchange for payment is not acting for INEC.
