ABUJA, NIGERIA – The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has paid a courtesy visit to the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja, reaffirming the strategic partnership between the Nigeria Police Force and the DSS in safeguarding national security.
Okay News understands that the visit, which took place on March 30, 2026, highlighted ongoing efforts by both institutions to strengthen cooperation in addressing security challenges across the country.
Speaking during the meeting, the IGP described the DSS as an indispensable partner in national security operations. He noted that the success of major operations often depends on the agency’s involvement and stressed the need for a stronger, mutually beneficial relationship. According to him, both organisations share critical responsibilities, including election security, counter-terrorism, VIP protection, tackling cybercrime, and addressing economic sabotage, alongside intelligence sharing.
He also called for enhanced joint training initiatives aimed at improving operational capacity, while reaffirming his commitment to deepening collaboration between the police and the DSS to promote national stability.
In response, the DSS Director-General expressed appreciation to Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Disu as IGP, noting his experience and dedication to service. He also commended the federal government’s support for the Nigeria Police, particularly in the renovation of training institutions nationwide.
The DSS chief further expressed confidence in the IGP’s ability to build on the achievements of his predecessors and advance policing in the country. He assured that the service would continue to prioritise intelligence sharing and joint operations with the police, describing the collaboration as a vital national asset.
The visit concluded with both parties reiterating their commitment to strengthening synergy between the Nigeria Police Force and the DSS, with a shared goal of enhancing security, improving intelligence coordination, and promoting institutional harmony.
