Liverpool picked up a much-needed Premier League victory with a 2–0 win over West Ham at the London Stadium, easing pressure on manager Arne Slot after a difficult run of results. Despite missing several early chances and looking short of their usual fluidity, the champions eventually broke through in the second half.

Record signing Alexander Isak finally opened his Premier League account for Liverpool, finishing calmly to give the Reds control of a match they had largely dominated. West Ham’s hopes of a comeback collapsed minutes from time when Lucas Paquetá completely lost his composure, earning two quick yellow cards for dissent after repeatedly confronting referee Darren England. His dismissal left the home side scrambling with 10 men.

Cody Gakpo put the result beyond doubt in stoppage time, smashing in a well-worked half-volley after good play from Szoboszlai and Gomez.

The win lifts Liverpool to eighth place, while West Ham remain in trouble near the relegation zone, level on points with Leeds.
