Islamic New Year: Ganduje declares Monday work-free day in Kano

Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, has declared Monday, Muharram 1, 1443 AH (August 9th, 2021) as a work-free day in the State.

Okay.ng understands that this was announced in a statement signed by the commissioner for information, Malam Muhammad Garba, on Thursday.

According to the statement, the holiday was in commemoration of the new Islamic calendar 1443 AH.

The statement also revealed that the governor urged workers to use the work-free day to pray for the country to deliver it from the prevailing security challenges.

Furthermore, Ganduje congratulated the Muslims on the dawn of the new Islamic year, which calls for thanksgiving and sober reflection.

He as well enlisted the support and cooperation of the people for the government as it strives hard to better their lots in the face of daunting challenges facing the nation.
