Beirut, Lebanon – Israel carried out its most intense coordinated wave of airstrikes on Lebanon on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, striking over 100 targets across Beirut, southern Lebanon, and the Bekaa Valley in a rapid 10-minute operation.
Okay News gathered that the Israeli military targeted command centers and military infrastructure linked to Hezbollah. The strikes caused widespread panic in Beirut, with residents reporting explosions in commercial and residential areas without prior warning.
The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health confirmed that at least 89 people were killed and approximately 700 others injured. Among the casualties were 12 medics, particularly in southern Lebanon, who were reportedly struck while on duty. Hospitals in the affected regions have been overwhelmed by the sudden influx of wounded patients.
The Israeli military described the operation as the largest of the current conflict, asserting that the existing U.S.–Iran ceasefire does not apply to its campaign against Hezbollah. Despite a recent pause in Hezbollah attacks on northern Israel, Israeli officials maintained that operations to degrade the group’s capabilities will continue.
Since the intensification of hostilities on March 2, the death toll from Israeli strikes in Lebanon has exceeded 1,500, with more than 1.2 million people displaced. Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam condemned the attacks as “barbaric,” while international leaders, including representatives from Iran and Pakistan, have called for restraint to prevent a total collapse of regional peace efforts.
