The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a change in the date for the 2025 Mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), moving it from April 5 to April 10, 2025. This adjustment, as stated by JAMB’s Public Communications Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, is intended to allow for the completion of all necessary preparations and the incorporation of various innovations aimed at enhancing the examination experience. The board also cited the need to accommodate the increased number of examination centers for the 2025 exercise as a contributing factor to the date change.

While the Mock UTME has been rescheduled to April 10, JAMB has confirmed that the main UTME will proceed as originally planned, commencing on April 25, 2025. The Mock UTME serves as an optional preparatory test, allowing candidates to familiarize themselves with the examination format and assess the system’s efficiency before the actual examination. JAMB has advised all registered candidates to stay informed regarding the printing of their Mock Notification Slip, which will contain details about their examination centers and other pertinent information.

It is important to note that JAMB has clarified that the UTME is not conducted via the internet but through a Local Area Network (LAN). This method, as explained by JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, ensures a stable and secure examination process, mitigating any potential issues related to internet connectivity. Over 2 million candidates have successfully registered for the 2025 UTME, with the registration process, which began on February 3, 2025, concluding with a total of 2,030,627 candidates. Additionally, 200,115 candidates have expressed interest in participating in the optional Mock UTME, and 630 candidates have registered for a trial mock examination.
