The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially closed registration for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The registration window, which opened on February 3, 2025, recorded a total of 2,030,627 candidates successfully signing up for the examination, slated to hold on April 25, 2025. This figure does not include candidates registered at foreign centers.
In addition to the main examination, 200,115 candidates indicated interest in the optional mock UTME, scheduled for April 5, 2025. Of this number, 630 candidates have enrolled for the trial mock examination, which will also take place on the same date.
In its weekly bulletin released on Monday, JAMB announced that with the conclusion of the registration process, preparations for the annual examination are now in full swing. The board also revealed that it has introduced new measures to curb malpractice and uphold the credibility of the examination.
“This year, the Board has rolled out several innovative strategies to combat cheating and safeguard the integrity of the examination process,” the bulletin stated. “These measures have already resulted in the arrest of multiple candidates attempting to use fake A-level results for admission, demonstrating the effectiveness of the new system in detecting fraudulent activities.”
JAMB further urged candidates to comply with examination rules and avoid engaging in any form of malpractice during the test. “Candidates are strongly advised to adhere to the examination guidelines and refrain from any dishonest practices,” the board emphasized.
The 2025 UTME is expected to proceed smoothly as JAMB intensifies efforts to ensure a fair and transparent examination process.
