The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has confirmed that the registration period for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will end on March 8, 2025, with no possibility of an extension.

The registration exercise initially began on January 31, 2025, for UTME candidates and was later adjusted to February 3 for Direct Entry (DE) applicants. The board had previously set March 5 as the deadline but later shifted it to March 8 as reflected in official advertisements and the examination calendar.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Head of Public Affairs and Protocol, urged prospective candidates to register promptly, noting that there has been a decline in registration numbers.

“So far, over 1.5 million candidates have successfully registered, in line with the board’s projections for the 2025 examination cycle,” Benjamin stated.

JAMB emphasized that waiting until the last minute could result in candidates missing their opportunity to take the exam, as there will be no grace period beyond the announced deadline.

The board also stressed that its examination schedule is fixed, with subsequent activities—including the exams, results processing, and admission exercises—aligned with other educational agencies and institutions.

“Extending the registration deadline would disrupt these plans and affect multiple stakeholders,” Benjamin added.

JAMB reassured that it remains committed to keeping the March 8 deadline intact, advising all candidates who are yet to register to do so without delay.
