ABUJA, Nigeria – The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially debunked a viral press release claiming that the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) has been postponed. The board described the circulating document as “malicious and fake.”

Okay News understands that in a statement issued on Saturday, April 4, 2026, the board urged candidates and the general public to disregard the false notice and stick to the original timetable. The board clarified that all activities concerning the 2026 UTME are moving forward as scheduled, with the main examination set to hold from Thursday, April 16, to Saturday, April 25, 2026.

This clarification comes in the wake of the 2026 UTME Mock examination held on Saturday, March 28, which was marred by technical challenges at several Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres. According to data released by the board, 224,597 candidates registered for the mock, but only 152,586 successfully completed the test across 989 centres nationwide.

In response to the glitches, JAMB has delisted over 20 CBT centres found to have technical inadequacies. The board also used the opportunity to warn candidates against falling victim to fraudsters on social media platforms, particularly WhatsApp, who claim they can inflate examination scores. JAMB reiterated that such claims are criminal and that any candidate involved faces the risk of having their registration cancelled or results withheld.
