In the next few months to come, the Ministry of Education will review the policy in which the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is using to admit candidates.

This issue was raised after candidates/several other educational bodies have complained to the Education Minister about the low rate of admission from the JAMB board.

According to the Nigerian Education Minister, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, who recently reveal to the federal Government, that they are about to review the JAMB policy.

Further speaking, he said, this is to ensure that more number of candidates are admitted into Colleges of Education as the nation needs more teachers, not just some SSCE certificate holders, but teachers who are qualified to help transform the Nigeria educational sector.

Similarly, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, who said and we quote:
“Only the dregs of candidates who sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) annually and fail to gain admission into universities are left for the Colleges.”

He also continued and said that from this policy review, they hoped that a policy will be developed to guarantee that the Colleges will have enough students admitted in the up coming admission examination.
