Tottenham Hotspur’s attacking midfielder, James Maddison, will not be included in England’s 26-man squad for Euro 2024, according to reports from the BBC and Sky Sports on Wednesday.

Maddison, who was part of Gareth Southgate’s initial 33-man training group, has not made the final cut for the tournament set to be held in Germany.

The Euros are set to begin in just over a week, with England positioned among the favorites.

The 27-year-old Maddison was introduced as a 61st-minute substitute during England’s 3-0 friendly win against Bosnia and Herzegovina at St James’ Park on Monday.

Despite his promising start to the Premier League season, his form tapered off, leading to his exclusion from the final squad. Maddison is one of seven players who did not make Southgate’s final selection, with the identities of the other six yet to be revealed.

Maddison has earned seven caps for his country but faced intense competition for a spot, as England boasts a wealth of talent in offensive positions.

England will play their final pre-tournament friendly against Iceland at Wembley on Friday, ahead of Southgate’s official announcement of the final 26-man squad scheduled for Saturday.

In the Euro 2024 championships, England has been drawn into a group with Slovenia, Denmark, and Serbia.
