Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus were the heroes for Arsenal in a hard-fought 2-1 Champions League victory against Sevilla. This win pushed the Gunners top of Group B as they reach the midway point of the group stage.

The excitement began as Martinelli, racing clear from his own half, scored the opener in stoppage time at the end of the first period. His lightning break showcased his incredible pace and skill.

Shortly after the halftime break, Gabriel Jesus added a second goal, extending Arsenal’s lead. Sevilla, who struggled in the first half, mounted a stronger challenge after the break and managed to pull a goal back with Nemanja Gudelj’s header.

Despite some close calls, Sevilla couldn’t find the equalizer, leaving Arsenal with the victory and top spot in the group with six points from three games. Lens sits in second place with five points, followed by Sevilla and PSV Eindhoven, each with two points.

For Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, the win was a relief, although his team didn’t have complete control of the match. He expressed his happiness, saying, “Very happy to win, not many teams have done that here in the last 10 years in Europe.” He also mentioned Gabriel Jesus’ injury, which forced his substitution in the second half.

Martinelli had an early opportunity to score, but his shot was saved by Sevilla’s goalkeeper. However, he made no mistake just before the break, rounding the goalkeeper to put Arsenal in the lead.

Sevilla had their chances in the first half, but their finishing let them down. Jesus then added the second goal for Arsenal, maintaining his record of scoring in every Champions League group game this season.

Sevilla pulled one back with Gudelj’s header from a corner, but despite multiple opportunities, they couldn’t find the elusive equalizer, allowing Arsenal to hold on for the victory.
