The former Chief Security Officer (CSO) to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Gordon Obua is still alive despite media reports to the contrary, a source in the State Security Service (SSS) has said.

Several media reports had it that Obua died in SSS custody on Monday, July 20, 2015, after being denied food, water and medical attention.

The former CSO reportedly embarked on a hunger strike to protest the conditions of his detention and passed out as a result.

The SSS is yet to issue an official statement on why Obua was arrested on July 16, and for what reasons he is still being held.
