Juliet Ehimuan, the esteemed West Africa Director at Google, has made the heartfelt decision to depart from the company after an impressive 12-year tenure.

In a statement shared on her social media platform, Ehimuan expressed her gratitude for the transformative journey she embarked upon with Google and her immense pride in contributing to the growth of the company’s operations in the region.

The statement reads, “Twelve years ago, I embarked on a journey with Google – a journey that became a mission to help shape Africa’s digital landscape.

“It has been my privilege to be part of this endeavour, which has transformed lives across our continent, made technology more accessible, and opened up limitless possibilities.

“After an incredible 12-year journey, I have made the decision to embark on a new adventure and embrace a broader role within our region’s tech ecosystem.

“Working with my colleagues to establish Google’s presence in Nigeria and drive its expansion across Africa was just the beginning.

“We spearheaded initiatives with a lasting impact, such as providing free digital skills training to over 6 million people and in-depth training to over 100k developers; launching the Google for Startups Accelerator Program; localising key products like Google Maps, Street View, and YouTube; investing in access projects like Equiano Undersea fibre optic cable, and so much more.

“When I reflect on all that we’ve accomplished, I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the opportunity to have led the West Africa business and to have been part of the Africa Leadership Team in this critical period.

“As I turn the page on my time at Google, I look forward to bringing together my passions for tech and leadership in supporting business leaders as they work to drive innovation and digital transformation in their operations, developing the next generation of African tech leaders, contributing to unlocking value in the dynamic African tech space and continuing my work on leadership and personal excellence through coaching rooted in the principles of my first book, ’30 Days of Excellence’.

“Thank you all for your support and collaboration.“
