Tinubu Appoints Ola Olukoyede as New EFCC Chairman

President Bola Tinubu has officially appointed Ola Olukoyede as the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The appointment is pending confirmation by the Nigerian Senate, according to a statement released by Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.

Ola Olukoyede is a legal professional with over 22 years of experience in regulatory compliance consulting, as well as expertise in fraud management and corporate intelligence.

His background includes extensive involvement in the operations of the EFCC, where he served as the Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman from 2016 to 2018 and as the Secretary to the Commission from 2018 to 2023. These qualifications satisfy the statutory requirements for the appointment as the Chairman of the EFCC.

The appointment follows the resignation of the suspended EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa.

Additionally, President Bola Tinubu has also approved the appointment of Muhammad Hassan Hammajoda as the Secretary of the EFCC.

This appointment is for an initial renewable term of five years, subject to Senate confirmation.

Muhammad Hassan Hammajoda is a seasoned public administrator with extensive experience in public finance management.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Maiduguri and a Master’s in Business Administration from the same university.

His career journey began as a lecturer at the Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, and he later transitioned to the banking sector, serving with distinction in institutions including the defunct Allied Bank and Standard Trust Bank.
