Kaduna State Government has declared free education for secondary school girls in the state, a move meant to increase female enrollment.

This was revealed on Friday by the Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Ja’afaru Sani in Kaduna.

According to Sani, “The Ministry of Education has sent a directive to that effect to all zonal offices and secondary schools for implementation.

“Before now, only the primary school children were enjoying the free education in the state but the governor has decided to include girls in the secondary school so that they can also benefit from free education.”

Already, the state has free education for all gender at the primary school level in line with Governor Nasir El-Rufai administration’s policy on education.

The commissioner also noted that the newly-recruited teachers in the state will get the backlog of their payments by the end of the month.
