Kano, Nigeria – The Kano State Government has announced strict guidelines for the upcoming Eid-el-Fitr Durbar celebrations, citing security concerns and the need to maintain law and order across the state.
Okay News reports that the decision follows intelligence reports indicating plans by some individuals to disrupt the Sallah festivities. The government, led by Abba Kabir Yusuf, said it remains committed to preserving Kano’s cultural heritage but will not compromise public safety.
As part of the approved arrangements, the traditional Hawan Idi procession will be conducted by Muhammad Sanusi II along designated routes from Kofar Mata Eid Ground to the Emir’s Palace. However, Hawan Nasarawa will be held in a modified format without horseback displays, while Hawan Daushe, Hawan Fanisau, and Hawan Dorayi have been suspended for this year’s celebrations.
Security agencies have been directed to enforce compliance and prevent any breakdown of law and order before, during, and after the festivities. Residents have also been urged to remain peaceful, cooperate with authorities, and avoid spreading unverified information as the state prepares for a safe and orderly Sallah celebration.
