Kano, Nigeria – Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has relieved Shehu Wada Sagagi of his duties as Commissioner for Investment, Commerce and Industry with immediate effect.
Okay News reports that the decision was announced on Thursday in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa. According to the statement, Sagagi has been directed to hand over the affairs of the ministry to the Director of Commerce pending further instructions from the state government.
Despite the removal, Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation for Sagagi’s contributions during his time in office, particularly in areas such as political engagement, religious affairs, and the development of small and medium enterprises across Kano State. He also wished him success in his future endeavours.
The government noted that the move is part of an ongoing restructuring aimed at improving governance, ensuring efficiency, and promoting sustainable development in the state.
This marks the second time Sagagi has been removed from the governor’s cabinet, having previously been sacked as Chief of Staff in December 2024 before his later appointment as commissioner.
