The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission has taken into custody Idris Wada, the former Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, along with the Permanent Secretary of the Public Procurement Bureau and three Directors.

In a press conference, Muhyi Magaji, the Chairman of the anti-graft agency, announced the arrests and disclosed the reopening of an investigation into bribery allegations against the former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The apprehensions were made in relation to a fraud accusation involving the misappropriation of one billion naira designated for road maintenance in the state.

Magaji emphasized the agency’s dedication to a thorough inquiry, stating that the Permanent Secretary and Directors have been cooperative during the ongoing investigation.

Furthermore, the decision to reopen the case against the former governor was prompted by a widely circulated video purportedly showing him accepting and stashing dollar bills.

Magaji expressed the agency’s commitment to conducting a comprehensive investigation into the allegations and ensuring adherence to due process.

The anti-graft agency reiterated its determination to leave no stone unturned in pursuing justice, delivering a strong message against the toleration of corruption in Kano State.
