Katsina Pilgrim Board to Refund 4, 485 Pilgrims

The Katsina State Pilgrims Welfare Board, on Monday said that it would offer refund to 4,485 pilgrims that perform the 2015 Hajj for services not rendered.

Muhammad Abu-Rimi, the Executive Director of the Board, said in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Katsina, that among those affected would be families of victims of the Mecca crane crash.

NAN reports that the board had already received N62.27 million from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria for the refund.

Abu-Rimi said that 24 persons would be refunded over N636.47 million each for not being able to perform the pilgrimage while 22 others would be refunded N24.33 million each for the board’s inability to feed them at Muna and Arafat.

The director said that the board would refund N1,308,110.4 to the families of nine pilgrims who died during the crane crash and stampede during the pilgrimage.

“The family will be refunded the transport fares of the return tickets as the people were buried at Saudi Arabia.

“The board will also refund N45. million to 4, 430 pilgrims for services not rendered to them at Saudi Arabia,” he said.

Abu-Rimi directed affected persons to go to the board’s zonal offices at Daura, Mani, Funtua, Dutsinma, Malumfashi Katsina and Kankia for the collection of the refunds.

The director advised them to go along with their payment receipts and E-passports as evidence that they were entitled to the payments.
