Lagos, NIGERIA — The Executive Governor of Katsina State, Dr. Dikko Umaru Radda, was honoured with the Human Capital Empowerment Governor of the Year Award at the 25th Independent Newspaper Awards held on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
In a statement released on Sunday, April 19, the Governor expressed profound humility at the recognition, describing the award as a tribute to the resilient people of Katsina State.
Okay News reports that Radda emphasized his administration’s focus on education, skills development, and MSME support as the pillars of his governance strategy.
Governor Radda noted that his government’s guiding principle remains the belief that human capital is the greatest asset of any society. He asserted that when citizens are empowered through job creation and youth and women inclusion, issues such as poverty and insecurity are naturally mitigated.
“We made a clear plan to invest in our people,” Radda stated, dedicating the award to the citizens of Katsina. He further assured the public that his administration remains focused on delivering policies that uplift lives across all local communities and sustaining public sector reforms.
The Independent Newspaper Awards, a prestigious annual event in Lagos, celebrates distinguished Nigerians who have made significant contributions to national development. The ceremony was attended by several high-ranking officials, traditional rulers, and captains of industry.
The Katsina State Government reaffirmed that this recognition would serve as a catalyst for deeper investment in agriculture and sustainable development across the state throughout the remainder of the 2026 fiscal year.
