Kemi Badenoch, leader of the United Kingdom’s Conservative Party, has disclosed that she no longer believes in God.

Speaking on a podcast hosted by Free Press editor Bari Weiss, Badenoch clarified that while she has stopped practicing faith in God, she identifies as agnostic and a “cultural Christian.”

“I don’t believe in God anymore,” Badenoch stated during the podcast.

“But I am not an atheist; I am agnostic. I used to believe in God very much but now I describe myself as a cultural Christian. I don’t think it matters if people believe in God or not. What matters is what they do with the belief or the lack of it.”

The revelation adds another layer to Badenoch’s often controversial public persona, sparking widespread discussion about her faith and identity. While some supporters appreciated her honesty, others criticized her shift in beliefs.

During the same interview, Badenoch revisited her negative experiences with the Nigerian police, contrasting them with her interactions with the UK police.

“I do [trust the UK police]. My experience with the police in Nigeria was very negative. Coming to the UK, my experience with the British Police was very positive,” she said.

She recounted instances of alleged corruption, adding, “The police in Nigeria will rob us. I remember the police stole my brother’s shoe and his watch.”
