President Bola Tinubu has strongly condemned the recent killing of military personnel in Delta State, labeling the perpetrators as “cowardly” and insisting they must face justice.

In a statement released Sunday evening, Tinubu expressed his profound grief over the tragic incident in Okuama community, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, where a commanding officer, two majors, one captain, twelve soldiers, and a civilian were gruesomely murdered during a rescue mission.

Describing the killings as “unprovoked” and “dreadful,” Tinubu extended his condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers, their colleagues, and loved ones. He assured that the military high command is already responding to the incident and emphasized that the perpetrators will not escape punishment.

Tinubu hailed the heroism, courage, and patriotism of the slain soldiers, emphasizing the sacrifices made by servicemen and women in the line of duty. He underscored the importance of honoring those who have paid the ultimate price to safeguard the nation.

Asserting that any attack on the armed forces is a direct attack on the nation, Tinubu vowed to ensure justice is served and peace is restored across Nigeria. He granted full authority to the Defence Headquarters and Chief of Defence Staff to prosecute those responsible for the “unconscionable crime against the Nigerian people.”

Tinubu concluded by reaffirming his government’s commitment to achieving peace and tranquility nationwide, emphasizing the significance of the armed forces in preserving Nigeria’s unity and security.
