London, UK – King Charles III on Wednesday formally received Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Oluremi Tinubu at Windsor Castle with full military honours as the Nigerian leader commenced his state visit to the United Kingdom.
Okay News reports that the ceremony featured a 42-gun salute by the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery, alongside a guard of honour reviewed by both leaders. Prior to the event, Prince William and Princess Catherine had welcomed the Nigerian President and his wife at the Fairmont Hotel before accompanying them to the castle.
The visit included an exchange of gifts and a special exhibition of Nigeria-related items from the Royal Collection. A state banquet is also scheduled, where both leaders are expected to deliver speeches, with dignitaries and notable figures in attendance.
As part of the visit, President Tinubu and the First Lady are expected to lay a wreath at the tomb of Queen Elizabeth II at St George’s Chapel and engage with organisations involved in interfaith dialogue, further strengthening diplomatic and cultural ties between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
