Kounde Scores Twice to Seal Barcelona’s Comeback Win Over Frankfurt

Barcelona fought back from a goal down to defeat Eintracht Frankfurt 2–1 in their first Champions League match at the Nou Camp in more than three years, with defender Jules Kounde scoring twice in four minutes.

Eintracht Frankfurt struck first in the 21st minute when Ansgar Knauff latched onto Nathaniel Brown’s through-ball, held off Alejandro Balde and finished calmly past Joan García. The visitors could have doubled their lead before the break but Ellyes Skhiri and Fares Chaibi both fired off target.

Barcelona improved after half-time, helped by the introduction of Marcus Rashford. The England forward made an immediate impact, delivering a pin-point cross that Kounde headed in for the equaliser five minutes into the second half.

The Frenchman struck again in the 53rd minute, meeting Lamine Yamal’s low delivery unmarked from six yards to give Barça the lead and ultimately the win.

The result lifts Barcelona to 10 points after six matches, keeping them firmly in the race for a top-eight finish that would send them directly into the last 16. Hansi Flick’s side have now won all four games since returning to the partially reopened Nou Camp, which remains under redevelopment until 2027.

Rashford, on loan from Manchester United, described the night as an “amazing experience”, saying the team “reacted well” after conceding early.

The only downside for Barcelona was a late booking for Yamal, ruling the teenager out of their next match away to Slavia Prague.

Frankfurt, meanwhile, remain on four points and risk dropping out of European competition entirely. The Bundesliga side, who were thrashed 6–0 by RB Leipzig at the weekend, created early chances but ultimately lost control after Kounde’s quickfire double.
