Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the 2023 elections, has hinted at the possibility of serving as the deputy to Labour Party candidate Peter Obi in the upcoming 2027 elections.

This was revealed in a video clip trending on the X microblogging platform, where the former Kano State governor expressed his willingness to consider the position if specific conditions are met.

Speaking in Hausa, Kwankwaso acknowledged that while he believes he holds greater political significance than Obi, he is open to engaging in discussions that could lead to a potential agreement between the two political figures.

“I’m bigger than Peter Obi politically, I’m his elder brother, I’m a PhD holder, I performed better than him when I was a governor of my state. I’ve no problem with deputizing Peter Obi, but only if certain conditions are met,” Kwankwaso said.

He further stressed the importance of trust in any possible collaboration.

In the 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi garnered widespread support, securing the majority of votes in 11 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), finishing third with 6,101,533 votes.

On the other hand, Kwankwaso achieved significant success in his home state of Kano, winning in 38 out of the 44 local government areas and accumulating 1,496,687 votes.
