By Adamu Abubakar Isa

The Labour Party (LP) has suspended its National Chairman, Julius Abure, effective immediately. The suspension was ratified by the state executive committee on Friday night, following allegations of anti-party activities.

According to a letter signed by the Ward Chairman and Ward Secretary, Abure is no longer recognized as a member of the party in Ward 3, Arue, Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State.

The State Executive Committee, led by Kelly Ogbaloi, endorsed the decision, citing a series of allegations against Abure. The state deputy chairman, Patrick Agbontaen, stated that the party is fed up with Abure’s misdemeanour and fully supports his suspension until further notice.

The ratification letter from the LGA Executive Council confirmed that the suspension was upheld, finding the allegations against Abure “weighty”. Abure has been advised to stop parading himself as a member of the Labour Party.
