Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus’ 2013 breakup wasn’t easy — on anyone. The actor confesses in his interview with ‘GQ Australia’ that it was ‘hard’ splitting with his longtime love, but it ‘needed to happen’ at the time.

When Liam Hemsworth, 26, and Miley Cyrus, 23, called off their engagement in 2013, the world was in shock. Liam admits in an all-new interview that their breakup was a “good decision,” but the heartbreak was still “hard” to deal with. But, hey, at least these two got a happy ending!

“Of course it was hard, man,” he said in his interview, according to The Daily Telegraph.
“But at the time we were going in different directions and it’s just what needed to happen.

“We were both super young and it was a good decision at the time — we both needed that.”
What a mature statement. Not many people would be so honest about a breakup. Liam and Miley were both very young when they got engaged. Miley was just 20 years old, while Liam was 23. They started dating — after meeting on the set of The Last Song — when Miley was only 17!

Liam is now 26 years old, and he’s just focusing on the things that “make me happy” — like Miley! He still likes to keep his personal life on the down-low, but he’s not going to be shy about his relationship with Miley. “People will figure it out, they already
have,” he said about his romance. “They’re not dumb.”

The two took their relationship public again back in Jan. 2016. However, their rekindled
romance reportedly started months before! Liam has said that they’re not engaged, but
Miley’s been spotted with her engagement ring on.
