Labour Party National Chairman Julius Abure firmly declared “no vacancy” exists in the party’s leadership following a recent Supreme Court ruling, directly challenging former presidential candidate Peter Obi and Governor Alex Otti, okay.ng reports.

During his first public appearance since Friday’s judgment, Abure addressed party members at the National Executive Committee meeting at party headquarters on Monday.

“The Supreme Court was unequivocal in its verdict on party supremacy,” Abure stated. “Party matters remain strictly internal affairs of political organizations.”

The chairman specifically targeted Obi, the party’s 2023 presidential flagbearer, and Otti, accusing both prominent figures of betraying the party’s interests.

The confrontation comes amid growing tensions within Labour Party ranks following the high court’s decision, which appears to have strengthened Abure’s position against internal challengers.
