Rape

A mentally disabled man has sexually assaulted a 22-year-old female student of the Delta State University (DELSU) at an Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) stand.

Reports say the incident happened in Abraka at the weekend.

The alleged rapist had abducted his victim, identified as Ejiro, as she tried to withdraw money from the ATM.

He then dragged her into the bush where he managed to remove her skirt before passers-by heard her cries.

Forumspotz gathered that the suspect held on to the student even as rescuers beat him off with sticks.

The victim’s elder brother told Leadership that it was after the alleged rapist was taken to the police station that his mental history was revealed.

It was also reported that Ejiro’s case was not his first rape attempt.

An unnamed police source quoted in the report said the victim was treated for bruises at the hospital.
