Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, located in the South West geopolitical zone of Nigeria, has announced the approval of the Thirteenth-Month Salary payment for all state government employees for the year 2025. The confirmation was issued during an official event held at the Executive Council Chamber of the Governor’s Office in Agodi, Ibadan, the state capital.
Okay News reports that the announcement was made while Governor Makinde formally inaugurated the Governing Board of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso, a major medical institution serving the Oyo region. The governor stated that the Thirteenth-Month Salary had become a consistent tradition under his administration, which began in the year 2019.
In a message shared on his verified X social media account, Governor Makinde noted that the state government would also fulfill its earlier pledge to clear outstanding arrears related to the national minimum wage adjustment. According to him, “At the inauguration of the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Governing Council this morning, I confirmed that the arrears on minimum wage which I promised at the end of September this year will be paid with the December salary. I also stated that we will pay a Thirteenth-Month Salary to workers in Oyo State as we have done since 2019.”
Governor Makinde further assured stakeholders that the unresolved issues involving medical lecturers of the university, who have embarked on an industrial strike action, would soon be addressed. He pledged that his administration would not allow the disruption of academic and clinical services at the teaching hospital to continue for long.
As part of his directives to the newly inaugurated board, Governor Makinde tasked the members with revitalizing the Oyo annex of the teaching hospital and transforming it into a fully operational medical facility within the next twelve months. He emphasized that the state government would provide all necessary institutional support to enable the board to deliver on its mandate.
The newly constituted governing board of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital is chaired by Professor Banji Oyelaran-Oyeyinka, a renowned development expert. The Secretary of the board is Mr. Aderemi Adediji. Other members include Mr. Gabriel Oyelade, Dr. Adebayo Taiwo, Mrs. Agnes Isola, Dr. Kehinde Ayinde, Professor Adebayo Olakulehin, Professor Adenike Olugbenga-Bello, and Dr. Oluwajoba Olayinka.
Delivering his remarks on behalf of the board, Professor Oyelaran-Oyeyinka expressed appreciation to the governor for the confidence reposed in the team. He pledged that the board would formulate and implement policies aimed at modernizing the teaching hospital and positioning it as a world-class medical centre capable of meeting international standards.
