Makinde, Oyinlola, Fayemi Visit Obasanjo in Abeokuta

ABEOKUTA, Nigeria — Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, and former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi visited former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Sunday, August 2, 2026.

Okay News reports that Seyi Makinde disclosed the meeting in a post on his verified X account on Sunday, August 2, 2026, where he published photographs from the visit at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library.

According to the governor, the discussions centered on national issues ahead of the forthcoming general election.

“Earlier today, we visited Baba, His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, in Abeokuta. Our discussions centred on important national issues in view of the upcoming general election,” Makinde said.

“We appreciate Baba for his wise counsel at this crucial time in our nation’s history,” Makinde said.

Photographs published alongside the statement showed Makinde playing a local board game during the visit.
