Manchester City emerged victorious with a dominant display against their crosstown rivals at Old Trafford.

The game began with both sides showing intent, but it was City who gained control of possession early on, albeit amidst some early pressure from United.

The first real chance came from a well-executed cross by City’s Gvardiol, finding Foden’s head, but a fantastic save from Onana denied City an opener.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 26th minute when a controversial penalty was awarded to City after Hojlund’s challenge on Rodri, leading to Haaland converting from the spot. Onana’s protest against the decision led to a yellow card for time-wasting.

City continued to pile more pressure on United, and despite some nervy moments after the opening goal, they created more opportunities.

Their pressure paid off in the 49th minute when Haaland doubled the lead, taking advantage of poor defending from United.

United struggled to regain momentum and failed to create clear-cut chances. The woes continued as Foden added a third for City in the 80th minute, capitalizing on a parried shot from Rodri.

As the match progressed, City remained resilient in defense, thwarting United’s attempts to salvage the game. Despite late substitutions and efforts to push forward, United couldn’t find a breakthrough.

Tempers flared in the dying minutes as Antony received a yellow card for an unnecessary foul and subsequent altercation with Doku.

The match ended with City clinching a convincing 3-0 victory at Old Trafford, thereby securing crucial points in the Premier League.
