On 2nd August, 2015 at about 10:00am, Police at Ogbere Division, Ibadan received a report that one Ahmed Olanrewaju, 41yrs had a domestic dispute with his 38yr-old wife (name withheld) at about 8:45am of same date.
Olanrewaju allegedly hit his wife with a sledge hammer on the head which made the wife fell to the ground unconscious. The husband thinking he had beaten his wife to death mounted the ceiling of the family house and hanged himself with a rope to his neck and died on the scene.
Neighbours rushed the wife to the hospital where she was revived, she is responding to treatment. Police detectives visited the scene to process same, recovered the man’s corpse and deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.
Investigations in progress to determine the circumstances leading to the incident.
