Officials of the Lagos State police command have arrested a member of a five-man gang who impersonated a renowned business mogul Aliko Dangote on Facebook.

This was made known on Wednesday by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kayode Aderanti, while parading the suspect at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja, ThisDay reports.

He said the suspect was apprehended by the command’s Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS), adding that he impersonated Dangote on Facebook with the aim of kidnapping a beauty queen.

The commissioner of police said the supposed victim, 20 year-old Sa-adat Usman Bibire, was later discovered to be the daughter of the Special Adviser to the Kwara State Governor on Political Affairs.

Aderanti said the kidnappers operate a fake Facebook account in the name of the business mogul, adding that conversations between the suspect and the supposed victim on Facebook, revealed that the suspect promised to make the victim a brand ambassador for Dangote noodles, an offer she gladly accepted.

It would be recalled that Cynthia Osokogwu, the daughter of a retired Army General met her killers on Facebook.

Meanwhile, Alhaji Aliko Dangote tops the ‘Africa’s 50 Richest’ list compiled by Forbes recently.
