Manchester United capped off Ruud van Nistelrooy’s temporary tenure as manager with a commanding 3-0 victory over Leicester City on Sunday.

The former United striker stepped in as interim manager following the sacking of Erik ten Hag, and leaves the role on a high with a four-game unbeaten streak.

United will welcome Ruben Amorim as their new manager after the international break, but Van Nistelrooy hands over the team with positive momentum.

Bruno Fernandes shone on his 250th appearance for United, opening the scoring with his fourth goal in as many games after an impressive one-two with Amad Diallo.

Fernandes also played a crucial role in the second goal, surging into the box and glancing a touch that deflected off Leicester defender Victor Kristiansen for an own goal.

Diallo, who earned his place in the starting lineup after a two-goal performance in United’s 2-0 Europa League win over PAOK on Thursday, continued to impress with his involvement in United’s attack.

Alejandro Garnacho, coming off the bench, sealed the victory with a stunning strike into the top corner, showcasing his potential with a powerful finish to round off the scoreline.

Despite remaining in 13th place, Manchester United are now only three points off fifth position in what has become a tightly packed Premier League table.
