Manchester United’s dismal 4-0 loss to Crystal Palace has left them eighth in the Premier League, putting their European qualification for next season at risk. The defeat, which marks their worst performance under Erik ten Hag, has raised questions about the manager’s future.

Michael Olise scored twice, with Jean-Philippe Mateta and Tyrick Mitchell also finding the net, as Crystal Palace continued their resurgence under new manager Oliver Glasner. United, on the other hand, have only won one of their last seven Premier League games and face a tough test against title-chasing Arsenal next.

Ten Hag has cited injury problems as a reason for their struggles, but the lack of fight and quality on display against Palace was alarming. United failed to register a single shot on target in the first half and were fortunate not to concede more goals.

The defeat leaves United with a negative goal difference and raises concerns about their ability to compete with top teams. The FA Cup final against Manchester City on May 25 offers Ten Hag a chance at redemption, but based on recent performances, United fans fear another humiliating defeat.

With only a few games left in the season, United’s new leadership group may be forced to consider a change in management if they fail to turn things around. The pressure is on Ten Hag to arrest the slide and secure European qualification, or risk facing the consequences.
