Manchester United were denied a much-needed Premier League victory after an astonishing 4–4 draw with Bournemouth at Old Trafford, as both sides traded blows in one of the games of the season.

United looked on course to end a long-standing unwanted record, having taken a first-half lead, but defensive frailties again proved costly as Bournemouth fought back repeatedly to snatch a point late on.

The hosts started brightly and went ahead early when Amad Diallo nodded home from close range after a dangerous cross caused chaos in the Bournemouth box. However, United’s lead was short-lived as Antoine Semenyo powered past Luke Shaw and fired beyond Senne Lammens to level the scores.

United restored their advantage before the break through a familiar route. Bruno Fernandes’ pinpoint corner was met by Casemiro, whose header squeezed past Djordje Petrovic to make it 2–1 at half-time.

Bournemouth emerged with renewed intent after the restart and turned the game on its head. Evanilson struck shortly after the break before Marcus Tavernier put the visitors ahead, exposing United’s youthful and makeshift backline.

Ruben Amorim responded with substitutions and a tactical switch, and United’s pressure finally paid off. Matheus Cunha, outstanding throughout, dragged United level with a well-taken finish before captain Bruno Fernandes curled home a superb free-kick to put the Red Devils back in front.

Just when it appeared United had done enough, Bournemouth struck again. Late substitute Eli Junior Kroupi capitalised on defensive lapses to score a dramatic equaliser, ensuring the points were shared.

Despite standout performances from Cunha, Amad, and Fernandes, United were left frustrated by another match in which attacking promise was undermined by defensive errors. For Bournemouth, the draw ended a difficult run of form and showcased the resilience of Andoni Iraola’s side.

The result leaves Manchester United still searching for consistency, while Bournemouth will take confidence from a spirited display in an unforgettable eight-goal encounter.
