Manchester United produced one of their most confident away displays of the season, sweeping aside bottom-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers 4–1 at Molineux to move into the Premier League’s top six.
Bruno Fernandes set the tone with a scrappy opener in the 25th minute, but Wolves briefly revived their hopes when Jean-Ricner Bellegarde struck an equaliser on the stroke of halftime. That flicker of belief quickly disappeared after the restart. Bryan Mbeumo restored United’s lead six minutes into the second half, Mason Mount added a smartly-taken volley shortly after, and Fernandes sealed the night with a composed penalty in the 82nd minute.
The victory pushes United level on points with fifth-placed Chelsea and just a point behind fourth-placed Crystal Palace, continuing a steadily improving run under manager Ruben Amorim. Wolves, meanwhile, remain winless and anchored to the bottom of the table with only two points from 15 matches — a run that has left their supporters increasingly vocal in their frustration.
Wolves manager Rob Edwards admitted his side were architects of their own downfall. He described the early goals conceded as “like watching a kids’ game,” lamenting poor decision-making and a lack of reaction when losing possession. The home crowd expressed their dissatisfaction throughout, with chants and protests aimed at the club’s hierarchy.
On the opposite bench, Amorim praised his players’ sharpness after halftime, highlighting the fluid attacking combinations and the volume of chances created. Mason Mount, who delivered his most complete performance of the season, earned the man-of-the-match award and emphasised that the squad felt liberated in attack.
With United stringing together back-to-back away wins for the first time under Amorim, momentum seems to be shifting in their favour. Wolves, however, face a bleak December and are already guaranteed to sit bottom of the Premier League on Christmas Day — a position historically associated with relegation danger.
