Manchester United Come from Behind to Beat Crystal Palace 2–1 at Selhurst Park

Manchester United mounted a strong second-half comeback to defeat Crystal Palace 2–1 in Sunday’s Premier League clash at Selhurst Park.

Palace struck first through Jean-Philippe Mateta, who converted a retaken penalty in the 36th minute after a recent rule change allowed the spot-kick to be taken again following an accidental double touch. The goal put the hosts in control going into the break, extending hopes of protecting their impressive 12-match unbeaten home run.

United looked flat and disjointed in the first half, but came alive after the restart. Joshua Zirkzee pulled the visitors level in the 54th minute, finishing off a move orchestrated by captain Bruno Fernandes.

Just nine minutes later, Mason Mount completed the turnaround with another Fernandes-assisted strike, putting United ahead for the first time in the match.

From there, the visitors managed the game with discipline, frustrating Palace and limiting their chances. As the clock wound down, United remained in command, with the home side struggling to threaten despite late substitutions and a push for an equaliser.

The victory represents an important response for Manchester United following last Monday’s disappointing defeat to 10-man Everton. It also provides momentum ahead of their upcoming home fixture against West Ham.

Palace, meanwhile, saw their long unbeaten home streak come to an end and were unable to reproduce the sharpness they showed in the first half after falling behind.

United now move up to the 6th position on the Premier League table, with renewed confidence as manager Rúben Amorim’s side continues to fight for consistency in the league campaign.
