Many people reportedly feared dead in an attack on the convoy of Rabiu Kwankwaso, senator representing Kano central, on Thursday.

Abdullahi Haruna, police public relations officer in the state, confirmed the incident to Okay Nigeria which happened at Kofa village in Bebeji local government area of Kano.

However, reports says that scores of party supporters from both camps died, while several others sustained various degrees of injury.

Okay Nigeria understand thats Kwankwaso had planned his final rally alongside the PDP governorship candidate, Abba Yusuf, to be held at Kiru and Bebeji on Thursday but the long motorcade of the party leader was denied passage through Kofa village.

According to reports, the clash occurred when thugs allegedly loyal to a member representing Kiru/Bebeji Constituency, Abdulmumin Jibrin, barricaded the road, which caused the bloody incident.

At least five vehicles have been burnt during the attack.
