Katsina State Government has awarded contracts worth over N10 billion for road construction across the state and, other projects even as the governor awaits receipt of 2016 budget still pending at the state assembly.

Addressing newsmen Wednesday, Commissioner for works, Tasiu Dandagoro said the contract included, 50km Dutsinma – Tsaskiya – Babban duhu -Kukar Samu road at the cost of N3.2 billion, and 38Km Fago – Katsayal- Kwasarawa – Jirdede – Koza road at the cost of N1.9 billion.

Dandagoro listed other contracts awarded as that of the 40kmGora-Makaurachi-Mallamawa- Gamzago road at the cost of N2.3 billion and N115 million for renovation and construction of “additional offices at new State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) office”He noted that N1.9 billion contract for upgrade of Ajiwa dam was also approved.

Continuing, Dandagoro said N68 million contracts for the perimeter wall fencing at the Ahmadu Bello University run School of Basic and Remedial Studies, Funtua, was also awarded.

It cannot be said with certainty if the contracts were bidded for but Dandagoro who did not disclose the names of the contracting firms, said competitive tendering system was adopted and three companies won the bidding.
