Asaba, Delta State, Nigeria — The Delta State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has dissociated itself from a medical histology report which is trending on social media platforms. The document has been used by Blessing Okoro, a well-known Nigerian relationship coach and social media influencer known as Blessing CEO, to back her alleged case of breast cancer.

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), through an official statement issued on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, clarified that the medical document in question belongs to a totally different individual who has been subjected to alterations. The organization which serves as a regulatory body for medical professionals in Nigeria said that the real patient who received the laboratory result was Mbara Deborah.

“The laboratory report was originally issued to Miss Deborah from a private hospital for further examination of suspected breast cancer. It was issued on Friday, May 9, 2025. It emanated from Xinus Medical Diagnostics in Asaba,” according to Israel Adaigho, the Nigerian Medical Association branch chairman and his secretary, Usamah Hannah, in their formal statements to Okay News.

In the statement, they revealed that “the owner of the facility, O.A. Odigwe who happens to be a consultant pathologist and a member of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) contacted our office over this trend.” He emphasized that “Xinus Medical Diagnostics is situated in Asaba, Delta State and did not at any time issue any report to Blessing Okoro.”

However, while the legal document presented by the law firm showed her as Miss Deborah, the one released by Blessing Okoro looked like it had been tampered with, replacing the name to hers.

In a twist of events after weeks of debate, social media influencer Blessing Okoro released a video clip where she shaves off her hair while narrating how she got diagnosed with a stage four case of breast cancer. The video allegedly raised approximately ₦13 million (about $9,421) through public donations towards her treatment costs.

In a recent live discussion between the star and an influencer, Blessing Okoro refuted claims she deceived her fans about having a ‘stage four’ case of breast cancer. According to the social media influencer, she explained the issue might have been caused by a misunderstanding about what the information stated by the doctors. She further revealed that only ₦13 million (about $9,421) was raised, contrary to the rumor of ₦100 million (about $72,470) in total amount raised through donations.

According to NMA, law enforcement agencies should take legal measures in investigating the incident since any form of forgery of documents affects the integrity of both the profession and its members. “The integrity of our association and its members is very paramount and should not therefore be taken for granted,” the statement ended as per reports.
