Nigerian travel blogger and influencer, Alma Asinobi, has announced her ambitious attempt to break the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the Fastest Time to Visit All Seven Continents.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, Alma revealed that she will embark on the challenge on March 15, 2025, in a race against time to visit all seven continents in less than 70 hours, aiming to surpass the current record of 73 hours set by Sujoy Mitra and Dr. Ali Irani from India.

Describing her announcement as “the scariest thing” she has ever written or attempted, the travel enthusiast expressed both excitement and determination to achieve the feat.

“On March 15th, I’ll be attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the ‘Fastest Time to Visit All Seven Continents’—one of two records this month,” she wrote.

Beyond the record attempt, Alma aims to spotlight passport privilege—or the lack thereof—particularly for Nigerians and other citizens with low-mobility passports.

“I want to shed more light on passport privilege, or in our case… the lack thereof. I got my first passport in 2019, and since then, I have visited about 30 countries, created beautiful memories, but had a few sour ones too, thanks in part to my green passport,” she explained.

She shared her struggles with visa applications, revealing that she had to apply for over 10 visas, with some requiring multiple attempts before approval.

“When I fully recover from having to apply for 10+ visas for this, applying for one of them four times and another three times before getting approvals, I’ll go in-depth about why we simply cannot afford to accept and be silent about the second-class treatment we’re subjected to when it comes to travel and visa requirements,” she added.

Alma’s challenge will take her on an adventure from Antarctica to Australia, with stops on every continent in between—all within the strict 70-hour timeframe.

“I’m pushing the limits of one of the lowest-ranking passports in the world on this adventure. The goal? To show you what’s possible and inspire you to see the world regardless of the limitations,” she wrote.

She called on Nigerians and travel enthusiasts worldwide to support her journey using the hashtags #AlmaChasingContinents and #7in70, encouraging followers to share their visa refusal experiences and travel stories.

“I’m counting on you for your support throughout this adventure, and I’ll share more updates as we go every step of the way,” she stated.
