MENLO PARK, United States – United States technology company Meta has begun rolling out new capabilities that allow its artificial intelligence assistant to connect with email and calendar apps, plan activities and complete recurring tasks for users.
Okay News reports that the update is powered by Muse Spark 1.1, Meta’s latest model for its standalone Meta AI app and the meta.ai website.
The company said the model enables Meta AI to move beyond answering questions and generating content by following a task from planning to completion. Users can ask the assistant to organise schedules, prepare research, create slide presentations and deliver updates at specified times.
One of the new functions is a daily briefing that can draw from a user’s calendar and highlight appointments, scheduling conflicts and changes to existing plans. Recurring instructions can also be set for tasks such as weekly meal plans, product alerts and regular summaries of selected topics.
Meta said the assistant can support longer projects. A user planning a kitchen renovation, for example, can ask it to identify furniture and fittings within a budget and prepare a visual mood board. It can also develop a week-by-week training programme, adjust the plan around a user’s availability and provide scheduled reminders.
The system can conduct research using material from websites, research papers and content shared by creators and communities across Meta’s platforms. Users may direct the process while it is running by asking the assistant to change its focus, tone or structure before the final report or presentation is completed.
Documents created through the service, including slide decks, schedules, reports and mood boards, are stored in one place so users can revisit, revise and share them.
According to Meta’s announcement, the new tools started rolling out on July 24 in select markets through the Meta AI app and meta.ai. The company plans to introduce them in additional countries and on other services, including WhatsApp, in the coming weeks.
Meta said users will continue to decide how the assistant is used and can choose Incognito chats for conversations they want to keep separate from their regular activity.
The rollout follows Meta’s earlier effort to strengthen the assistant with current information. In December 2025, the company signed agreements with several international publishers to supply Meta AI with real-time news content.
