Meta’s latest app, Threads, has amassed an impressive user base of 10 million people worldwide within a mere seven hours of its launch, according to Mark Zuckerberg, the owner of Meta, who announced this news on the app resembling Twitter.

Earlier in the day, Zuckerberg had shared that Threads had garnered over 5 million sign-ups since its introduction, but this figure skyrocketed to 10 million within the first seven hours. In his update, Zuckerberg wrote, “10 million sign-ups in seven hours.”

Threads allows Instagram users to create accounts using their existing Instagram usernames and connect with individuals they already follow on the image-centric platform. The app is presently downloadable from both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Its release has sparked varied reactions among social media users, with some considering it a viable alternative to Twitter while others dismiss it as yet another unsuccessful attempt to replicate Twitter’s success.
