Returnee Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel has been invited for the team’s back-to-back Fifa World Cup qualifiers against African champions Cameroon in September.

The former Chelsea midfielder was out of action for four months after suffering a strain in a Chinese league game.

The list of players invited by head coach of the three-time African champions Gernot Rohr also include forward Odion Ighalo, who is also making a comeback to the side.

Germany–based defender Leon Balogun returns after missing the World Cup qualifier against Algeria and the Africa Cup qualifier against South Africa.

Also on the list is Chelsea wing-back Victor Moses who is also back after missing the game against South Africa in June due to injury.

Nigeria will host the Indomitable Lions in Uyo on Friday, 1 September, before flying to Yaounde for the reverse fixture on Monday, 4 September.

The Super Eagles are on the roof of the Group B qualifying campaign with six points from two games, while Cameroon are four points adrift.

Former African champions Zambia and Algeria occupy third and fourth spots respectively in the group. Both teams have one point apiece.
