The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has commended President Bola Tinubu for establishing a Ministry of Livestock Development, a move they say is long overdue. MACBAN President, Baba Othman-Ngelzarma, expressed the association’s excitement and renewed hope in the government’s ability to transform the livestock sector.
The new ministry is expected to address the perennial conflicts between pastoralists and farmers, as well as tap into the economic potential of the livestock industry, creating jobs and boosting the economy. While some have expressed concerns about the additional governance cost, others see the ministry as a step in the right direction.
