76-year-old Zella Price of Missouri, was shocked to learn that her daughter was alive. 50 years ago, Price gave birth to a baby girl at the Homer G. Phillips Hospital in St. Louis, and she was told that her baby died.
However, the baby was alive and was adopted by another family. Her daughter, Melanie Diane Gilmore, was looking for her mother for a long time, and with the help of her children, she traced down Price, and the two recently met for the first time. Price said that she is hurt by the years of separation, but is grateful for this second chance.
Gilmore lost her hearing at 3 years old, because of a childhood illness. She communicated her excitement using sign language. The emotional reunion between the mother and daughter was captured on video. Gilmore and her children met her mother and her family members. Sadly, her father passed away a few years ago. The family said that they will launch an investigation into what happened at the hospital when their daughter was born.
